What's in Our Beach Bags?

Summer is here and no summer is complete without a trip to the beach! This summer of 2012, we went on separate trips and we have decided to show you guys what it is we pack for a day out in the sun. So, here's what's in our beach bags!

Aya's Not So Beach Bag

So, what's in my beach bag-er-backpack? Yeah, backpack. This summer, my family and I went to Coron, Palawan. I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful it is! The sun and the sea was just so refreshing and it was a nice getaway from dusty ol' Manila. Anyway, my family and I don't really like to just lay out on a beach and bake. We love adventure trips and going island hopping and sometimes that entails a little bit of trekking/hiking to get to hidden lakes, lagoons and the like. So instead of me having a hard time carrying a giant tote, I like to carry a backpack because I need my hands to be free whilst trekking. My backpack is from Tomato which I bought a year ago. It's perfect for me because it's waterproof and it has a really cute floral design. So it's both functional and fashionable! So, what's in it?!

I don't pack a lot of stuff because I don't want the pack to weigh me down. Not to mention I frequently have "lampa" moments. My feet are uncontrollable so I need my hands free to keep me stable Ha! The first thing I make sure is in my bag is a small bottle of water. With all the hiking, I'm pretty sure I need water. Plus, you need to hydrate after long sessions gulping salt water in the sea. Next up is sunblock or tanning lotion. My sister and I make it a point to get a tan every time we go out tot eh beach. Vitamin D is good for you but not too much which is why you need sunblock with a good amount of SPF. Just a tip, apply your sunblock 30 minutes before you swim so that it has time to set. My mother told me that and I'm not sure if it's true but it seems to work for me so oh, well! Up next are my sunnies! Who goes on a beach vacation without sunnies? For this trip, I brought one pair of aviators from Mango.

Next is a bandana. You'll just never know when you might need to keep the sweat out of your eyes. I got my bandana from a Toms event I attended last April. I cannot go island hopping without my trusty cameras! The pink Olympus digital camera is an underwater camera, perfect for taking videos of fish or shipwrecks.

The Holga is for when I have free time to take photos of random things that I find. It's not in the photo because it's what I used to take the photo but my Nikon D60 is "My Reliable". I also make sure to pack lip balm because my lips tend to get chapped because of the salt. My mandarin lip butter helps soothe the crackles. Hand gel is also a must for me because my family and I have lunch on a beach and we don't use any utensils because food just tastes better when you use your hands! So I need to make sure my hands are clean! Next is lotion for my sunburns. After a long day of island hopping, snorkeling, diving, and hiking, my skin tends to get a little bit burnt. I like to apply lotion to those areas just to relieve my skin. The last thing in my bag is Kleenex Tissues! Tissue almost always saves the day. You touch something? Oh, here's tissue. You got a nose bleed from the heat? Oh, here's tissue. You sweating like a pig? Oh, here's tissue. Nuff said.

Arabella's Beach Bag
So for my beach trip this summer 2012, I planned to go with two of my roommates to where else but Boracay, it is actually my second time to go this year cause I spent my New Years with my family there. I have been a fan of Boracay although I must say that it gets crowded and crowded by the years but still a fun place to go. I am such a beach bum that I can dedicate my life by living at the beach. Anyway so what exactly do I have in my beach bag?

Canvas Bag with Girl on print from artwork
I really like this Canvas Bag that I got three in different designs but I thought this was perfect for the beach because the picture of the girl just seems to look summery to me also given that its colors were orangey, I'm guessing it was a film shot if not edited, the bag if I'm not mistaken costs only 399 pesos or around 10 usd. It's lightweight and at the same time has enough room for all the things I need. It also has a smaller inside pocket which I can put the things I'll always bring out like my wallet and my phone. I bring a lot of stuff usually even if this is the beach day bag I still have a lot of stuff to carry, hmmm I know I still need to work on my packing skills but heh maybe some other time. It also has a zipper so it shields my things away from the sand. So to get going what is really inside thy bag???
